History of The RPG Dungeon
The world of Sevemens was born in 1983 when a group of intrepid adventurers from a weekly D&D session decided they wanted to leave the dungeons and town their adventures were based in. A common theme soon developed as the Dungeon Master slowly and laboriously filled the world around them. As each new area, town, or province was completed the players would surely ask., "What's past the forest?" or "What's beyond the desert?" and "What's across the lake?" and before to long "What's over the mountains?"
The world of Sevemens grew out of a love of a game, and the imaginations that had fueled it. After many years of gaming and many new additions to the group it became time that those remaining characters needed to be retired along with the characters of the players that played no more. Several generations of characters came and went, but those players alway felt a certian fondness for the ones that had come first. So those original characters reappeared as NPC's in the world, sometimes as a main character, sometimes as only a name heard in whispers. But the players of old remembered and their tastes had refined themselves and so did their playing styles, and thus was born "The Ruling Caste".
The Ruling Caste was a game devoted to the players who had remained true to the group over the many years, and a few who had moved on in life. By Mail (and now Email) and Quarterly Dinners these players became thier beloved characters once again, this time instead of just adventuring in the World they were the rulers of it. Because that weekly game group had never stoped, always alive in one form or another, comprising over 250 characters and 60 to 75 different players over the years, the two games collided.
The Ruling Caste truly did change the setting the other players were playing in, and thus the World of Sevemens truly became a living, evolving world.
Back in January of 1989 the RPG Dungeon was concieved by several members of that group of players, offering ideas and aid to players of pen & paper, and computer role playing games.
When Dungeons and Dragons entered its third edition we decided that 20 years of role playing expirience could lend us some credibility and we became creators of d20 material. We dropped the RPG Dungeon moniker and became IcePack Games but the players and characters in the World Sevemems survived and grew.
2005 hit and we re-introduced the RPG Dungeon with the Living World of Sevemens. It was a trying time as we rewrote hundreds of pages of content to be usable with the latstest incarnation of the rules.
Fast-forward to 2008, D&D in it's fourth edition and we decided it was time to update again. We dropped all of the fan-site content and decided to give Sevemens it's own home on the web again.. All of the RPG material is still here and our Living World content is taking over the RPG Dungeon and making it it's new home. Our Sevemens sourcebooks were originally going to get a rewrite but instead we decided for the 25th anniversary we would remake the world and go back in to it's history.
And that brings us to today...
